The collection is shared between over 200 Maine libraries and consists of over 50,000 ebooks and audiobooks.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use cloudLibrary on the web or download the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Download the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/yourcloudlibrary.com\/index.php\/en-us\/how-it-works\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CloudLibrary app<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for your device. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using the drop down menu, select your country, state, library (Richmond &#8211; Isaac Umberhine Public Library), and enter your 5-digit library number (you must include any leading zeroes). No PIN required.\u00a0<em>If you don\u2019t know your number,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dev.umberhine.lib.me.us\/?page_id=121\">contact<\/a> the library.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click agree to terms and log in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then browse, borrow, and read.\u00a0There is a 3-week borrowing period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On the app, you can tap the filter icon to just show audiobooks, eBooks, and\/or only books that are currently available. You can sync books across devices so you can browse and borrow on your computer and download to listen or read on your portable device. You can download the book at the library to read at home or listen to in the car without an internet connection. For more information, go to&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.maineinfonet.org\/downloadlibrary\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.maineinfonet.org\/downloadlibrary<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lending Policies<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Borrowing \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>You can borrow up to 3 titles&nbsp;at a time.&nbsp;There is a 3-week borrowing period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Returning \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Items&nbsp;can be returned before they expire. You can return an item early. Go to \u2018My Books\u2019 to return (check in) the item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Renewing<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 It is not possible to renew items. This is dictated by the publisher, not the library or vendor. However, the item can be checked back out again if there is no one waiting for it, and your device will remember where you left off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fines<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 None. At the end of the checkout period the book returns automatically and will no longer be on your account. If you transferred the book to a portable device from your computer, the file on that device will have expired after the \u201cdue date\u201d and you will no longer be able to access it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Holds \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>The current model used by publishers dictates that eBooks and eAudiobooks be treated in the same way we lend physical items, which results in a one-copy\/one user model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can place up to 3 items on hold at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you place a hold on an item, the screen will display the number of days until the item is available. If the initial dialog doesn\u2019t show the number, try refreshing your screen by selecting \u2018My Books\u2019 and then select the item in your holds listing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the item is returned to the library, a message will appear in your Message Center telling you the title is available for checkout. You will have three days to checkout the item before the hold is removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can set up email notification through \u2018My Books\u2019 under your settings &gt; account profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can&nbsp;cancel a hold by going to My Books and find your Holds. Remove the hold for the item that you no longer want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reading history \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>Your history&nbsp;is automatically saved, but you can choose to opt out or delete it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bookmarks<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Bookmarks are saved in the cloudLibrary. When you check out a book again that you have bookmarked previously, your bookmarks will reappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Log&nbsp;out<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Once you have downloaded the app and signed in, your device will remember your account. Some apps allow you to add another account. If it is not a shared device, be sure to log out (in \u2018Settings\u2019 on most devices).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you need to troubleshoot the cloudLibrary app on a mobile device, begin by restarting your device. Doing so will solve a fair number of the more idiosyncratic errors.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patrons can suggest items for purchase directly in the CloudLibrary app. Here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the CloudLibrary app, tap the magnifying glass (Search) at the bottom of the screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap the small funnel (Filters) next to the search box at the top of the screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure that the box next to \u201cSuggestions for Library\u201d has a check mark next to it, then tap Save.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you search for a title that we do not own, a \u201cSuggest\u201d button will appear next to the item. Tap the button to suggest that we purchase it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Devices that are compatible with the cloudLibrary app:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See updated list at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourcloudlibrary.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.yourcloudlibrary.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Devices that will not work:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>eInk Kindles (such as the Kindle E-reader or Paperwhite)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ipods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mp3 players that do not support apps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Audiobooks&nbsp;<\/strong>As with ebooks, downloadable audiobook playback is App based. This provides a simple and intuitive interface for playback of audiobooks. It does, however, mean that audiobook playback is limited to app-capable devices, such as phones, computers, iPod Touch, etc. Basic MP3 players are not supported at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow these instructions to get started on your&nbsp;<strong>Kindle Fire<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP ONE:<\/strong>&nbsp;Open&nbsp;<strong>Quick Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;by swiping down from the top of the screen or tapping on the gear icon in the top right corner, and then choose&nbsp;<strong>More<\/strong>. Depending on your model, look for either&nbsp;<strong>Applications<\/strong>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<strong>Device<\/strong>. Turn on the option to&nbsp;<em>\u201callow installation of applications from unknown sources.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;(We recommend turning this option off again after installing cloudLibrary.)<br><strong>STEP TWO:<\/strong>&nbsp;Open the Silk Browser app (left) and go to&nbsp;<strong>http:\/\/yourcloudlibrary.com<\/strong>. Select the Kindle Fire icon (right) and then scroll down to the red button that says&nbsp;<strong>DOWNLOAD: Kindle Fire App<\/strong>. Confirm the download, and when the download finishes, tap&nbsp;<strong>Download Complete<\/strong>&nbsp;to begin installing the app.<br><strong>STEP THREE:<\/strong>&nbsp;Open the App, tap the green&nbsp;<strong>Connect to Your Library<\/strong>&nbsp;button. Select United States, Maine, and Liberty. Enter your 14-digit library card number (with no space) and log in.<br><strong>STEP FOUR:<\/strong>&nbsp;Select the magnifying glass to search for a specific title or author, or the menu icon in the top left corner to see featured collections or browse by genre. Titles with a blue headphones icon are Audiobooks, and titles without this icon are eBooks. (You can tap filter icon to just show audiobooks, eBooks, and\/or books that are currently available.) Tap on a cover to read more about a book and then select&nbsp;<strong>Borrow<\/strong>&nbsp;to borrow it now, or&nbsp;<strong>Hold<\/strong>&nbsp;to be added to the wait list. Select&nbsp;<strong>My Books<\/strong>&nbsp;in the menu to access your current items. Titles are checked out to you for three weeks and will be returned automatically.
